"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23
This confession of our hope is an amazing wellspring for us. The anxiety of our age is caught up in a cycle of concern for self above all. The radical hope of the gospel is that we are free to give ourselves because we have been fully satisfied in the One who concerned Himself for us and the world around us.
As we close our vision series this coming Sunday we will look at the value of Celebration. While it has been so encouraging to see what God is doing among the other Colossae congregations I am truly excited to share this message with you, in Beaverton, as I believe this value helps us hold fast to hope in a culture of turmoil.
If you have missed any of these messages from the other Colossae pastors, I highly encourage you to catch up as they are really excellent expressions of what we are about as a congregation.
As summer approaches, here are some things to get on the calendar and keep in mind as we seek to make the most of our beautiful PNW surroundings. Also, don't forget, we will begin Youth (5th-8th grade) this Sunday! We will dismiss them after the first two songs.
Hang out this Sunday, June 9th right after the gathering. We will provide brisket, hot dogs and drinks. If you want to help provide a side dish, sign up on the App. Stay and enjoy lunch together as a church family as we conclude our vision series and begin to converse about how our values play out in the day to day realities of relationships. Make sure to mark your calendars for these lunches once a month in the summer, and save the date for the end of summer bash on August 9th!
Monthly Help with Kids and Other Teams
It genuinely takes a lot of people to make Sundays happen, we cannot do it without amazing volunteers. We are asking for you to find a serve team to help in at least once a month. Many of our kids volunteers will take time this summer for vacation and we will need people who can commit once a month or to be a back up! Serving is always a paradox, because in giving of ourselves we find ourselves and a deeper more meaningful connection to others. Our Set up/Take down team and Hospitality team are always looking for people who can help carry the burden of creating a warm environment on Sundays. Let us know how you would like to serve on our website or on the app and we will help you connect with the right people!
Summer Community Picnics
Many of our communities take the summer off until the fall. In lieu of these weekly gatherings in homes, we will meet up for midweek hangouts at parks each month. If you have not yet connected to a community, this is a great chance to make a meaningful connection. Besides, it's just fun to be outside and together. Bring a friend, bring a picnic, and be ready to have fun! Also be sure to stop by the community table to see the list of weekly park playdates where our moms will be connecting this summer.
Join Colossae Pastors as they travel through the Holy Land. It will be a once in a lifetime experience to walk through the Scripture, in a devotional setting; beginning in the Old Testament and concluding in the Garden Tomb. The trip will be January 27-February 7th, 2020. You can learn the details at interest Meetings in Tigard on June 30th and in Hillsboro on July 7th.
See you Sunday!
