“At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”

Hebrews 2:8-9

Today is Ash Wednesday
.  It marks the beginning of Lent, a season that leads us into Holy Week and Easter.  Lent provides us with a window through which we look at our world and see all that is "not yet" perceptively in subjection to Jesus and his prayer, "on earth as in heaven." In other words it is a time where we reflect together on the realities of our broken world and our need for the grace of God, that is the death Jesus has tasted for everyone.

Each week as our call to worship we will reflect briefly on a lenten theme that summons us toward a faithful response to God's grace in light of the world's brokenness.  You can look to the App each Monday for a weekly reading and reflection that explores that theme in greater depth.

As we move through the six weeks leading to Good Friday and Easter I pray that we will indeed see Jesus crowned with glory and honor, remembering that his crown of thorns and glorification on the cross are the means of our redemption.

As we look ahead to Spring as a congregation, here are some things to look forward to in March:

Colossae Beaverton Women's Night:

We hope you can make it out for our women's night next week, to continue to grow in community together. Let us know if you plan to come! You can RSVP through the App

Opportunity to Serve Needs at Beaverton High School:

We have an opportunity to get behind the efforts of BHS to help families experiencing poverty this Spring.  There is a need for people deliver groceries from the school to families to help them over Spring Break.  We are looking for volunteers to help Thursday March 21st to help meet the need.  If you are interested you can register on the app under events.

Serve on Sundays:

One of the best ways to get involved as a part of Colossae is to join with others serving to help at one of our gatherings.  Our teams (set up/clean up, hospitality, Colossae Kids, music/tech, & prayer) are not only necessary but also great places to partner in kingdom efforts and build relationship.  If you would like to be a part of a serving team, go to our app and fill out the "serve form" under Engage or the website here

I am excited to grow deeper with you this Lenten season in affection for Jesus and receptivity to His incredible grace.
